City of Toronto works with pet local businesses to reward pet owners

BluePaw, a new program developed by Toronto Animal Services  (TAS) rewards pet owners who license their dog or cat in the City of Toronto.  Licensees automatically become a member of the BluePaw Program and members who use a BluePaw key chain tag or promo code receive exclusive offers and discounts on a wide range of pet-related products and services offered by local businesses.  Over a one-year period, a pet owner can recoup the cost of their licence through discounts.

“By using BluePaw, pet owners support businesses that understand how valuable pets are and who recognize the importance of pet licensing.” Says Mary Lou Leiher, Program Manager for Toronto Animal Services, “This is a winning situation for all parties.”  Licence fees go directly to Toronto Animal Services to help support programs such as pet adoption, spay/neuter clinics and to provide medical care for lost and homeless animals, businesses are given a new platform with which to engage pet owners in the city and families benefit from the exclusive offers and discounts afforded by the program.

The official launch of the program is scheduled for April.  The program continues to welcome new business partners who will enjoy their listing on the Blue Paw website and also be spotlighted at the launch event.  Joining the TAS community is easy -  business owners, can become a BluePaw business member by visiting www.toronto.ca/bluepaw and submitting a vendor form. Citizens renew their dog or cat licence in person at the city's four animal shelters, participating partner locations (listed on our website), over the phone or on our website at www.toronto.ca/animalservices
