Petland Kamloops, Kamloops B.C.
For 15 years we have been deeply involved in the pet wellbeing and health of our community. We have done a weekly column on pet care in our local newspaper, and donate thousands of dollars in pet food to the food bank. Our group and school tours teach about responsible pet ownership, pet care and the importance of pets. We are actively involved in the Petland Pets for life project, where if a family is not able to keep their pet we will find a new home them. We also believe that healthy families make the best pet homes, which is why for 15 years we have focused many of our efforts at supporting local community initiatives. We are Gold Sneaker Sponsor for the Walk to Cure Diabetes, fundraise with pet photos with Santa for the Boys and Girls Club of Kamloops, and the Kamloops Food Bank and recently were awarded the Bronze Medallion from the Kamloops Food Bank for our efforts on their behalf. Our annual Doggie Washes (Barks n Bubbles) are events the city looks forward to, with thousands of dollars being raised through donations for the Food Bank and the University Animal Health Tech program. Critter Jungle – Ottawa, ON
We are passionate about pet rescue, of all animals. We work constantly, directly and indirectly, with rescue groups and individuals to help animals find their “forever homes”. We financially sponsor many events for rescue and regularly donate our time and staffs time to help rescues meet their needs. We hold regular “Dog Washes” at the store for the many local pet rescues raising hundreds of dollars each time. We have had events on site for rescue. One of our most successful was a garage sale which raised $5000 for rescue. We are working on a new initiative, where we will have free podcasts on i-Tunes for staff training and consumer education. Taylor Made Pets – Keewatin, ON
We are members of the Animal Welfare Committee formed by our local city council to collaborate ideas in dealing with local animal issues, including helping to rewrite the local bylaw, focusing on dealing with irresponsible pet owners and with education. We have a great working relationship with the local cat shelter and two dog fostering networks. We provide regular donations of product and have organized a number of fundraising projects for them. We provide prizes to the shelters for any fundraising projects that they may have happening and sponsor the "lost and found pets” segment on the local radio station and on Facebook. We have also been involved in a co-operative education program with local schools. Four grade 8 students, whom were labeled "high risk kids" , were permitted to come to the store for 1 hour on Fridays as a reward for attending school that week and learn about work ethics and about pets.

North Star Pet Centre – Fort McMurray, AB
At North Star Pet Center we love to help the pets, kids and seniors of our area. We support all the schools in Fort McMurray and outlying communities by providing donations for class rooms. We provide feed for rabbits or fish, crickets for reptiles, as well as gift certificates. We provide donations to the local SPCA such as litter or food if the need arises, we also donate gift baskets for any functions they are having. We also help a group called SCARS (second chance animal rescue society) with fund raising and helping with their needs. We have sent dog food to a small community outside of McMurray were there were several people that were having a rough winter and it was almost impossible for them to get enough feed for their dogs. We also do fundraising in the store with bar-b-qs and the proceeds go to local groups around McMurray (SPCA /SCARS/ FIRE DEPARTMENT). Our staff are involved in these events and get to choose the recipient organization.
