It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Alex
Ploeg, the Secretary General of the European Pet Organization and Ornamental
Fish International. Alex, his
wife Edith, their son Robert and friend were killed in the plane crash which
took place Thursday, July 17 over the territory of Ukraine.
PIJAC Canada worked with Alex on the International Pet
Advisory Council. Alex's area of
expertise was aquatics and his numerous interventions at the international
level greatly contributed to the preservation and growth of the hobby. He was well known around the world as a
dynamic and engaging speaker. He will be
greatly missed by all.
